Nomura: We'll work on Kingdom Hearts 3 "as soon as possible"
February 7, 2010
Tetsuya Nomura has gone on record with Japan's Weekly Famitsu to chat about the Kingdom Hearts series and its protagonist Sora, and in the process confirmed that Kingdom Hearts III is on the cards.
When asked about a proper third entry in the series, Nomura gave a frank and honest reply:
"Fans and partners alike are pressing us for it, so we'll work to realize it as soon as possible."
It seems a third Kingdom Hearts title is not in the works just yet, but is definitely being planned behind the scenes.
In the same issue of Famitsu, Nomura teased that the next appearance of Sora could come from either the Tokyo team - responsible for Kingdom Hearts I and II and currently working on Final Fantasy Versus XIII - or from the Osaka team, which produced the PSP Kingdom Hearts spinoff Birth By Sleep.
Some of Sora's origins were explained too, with Nomura revealing that Sora was originally more beast-like in appearance with a tail and animal ears. The tailed appearance was dropped as it was considered too close to FF9's Zidane. Disney also made suggestions on Sora's design, and the final revisions were made in a single night.
Stick with us for all the Kingdom Hearts latest as we get it, as always.
