Square Enix teases 'next generation' game engine with image of Cloud

March 12, 2010

Square Enix are currently recruiting staff for the construction of a new ‘next generation’ game engine, and are advertising the post with an image that is sure to stir up emotions in FF fans – Final Fantasy VII’s Cloud.

The image is from Advent Children Complete, but fans will note that advertising the hiring process for the development of a new Next Generation Engine with an image if Cloud could be hinting at a Final Fantasy VII remake.

The recruitment page says that they are “Seeking the highest level of talent” for a “New generation game engine development project.”

The text goes on to talk about how game development has changed this generation, and cites the power of both the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 as the cause of a major change in the quality of visuals and sound in games. The higher quality required for next gen titles will require a ‘revolution’, so the ad claims.

There are various positions available for those with experience of both the Xbox 360 and PS3 development environments. All the positions are based in Tokyo, so have nothing to do with the Eidos side of the company.

We’ll bring you the latest as we get it, as always. Check out the job posting over on Square Enix’s recruitment site.
