FF13's Japanese 360 version pictured, shows how multi-disc games should be packaged
December 18, 2010
Final Fantasy XIII's Xbox 360 version is finally getting a Japanese release a full year after the original PS3 version landed in Japan, in what's being called the "Ultimate Hits International" version. I can't help but feel like those words have landed on the box in the wrong order, somehow.
The new version of the game features English voiceover and music changes with language options for text and subtitles in English and all the other languages supported in the US and European releases. It also comes packaged with a book titled Final Fantasy XIII Episode 1, which tells the story of what happens after the game.
Notable to us, though, is the way the discs are packaged. The Japanese version of the game comes in a thick case that has a seperate section for each of the three discs. In the Western releases, the three discs were stacked on top of each other on a rather ugly spindle that not only was pretty ugly but also not very functional, even sometimes scratching discs.
