First Screenshot of Gilgamesh Battling in Dissidia 012 Duodecim
February 14, 2011
Gilgamesh's existence in Dissidia 012 Duodecim Final Fantasy as a playable fighter is just about the worst kept secret in Square Enix right now - he's been teased
officially in a trailer
, but fans have hacked apart the Dissidia Prologus release and found all manner of files relating to the Final Fantasy V villain.
Square Enix themselves may have just spilled the beans a little early, though, as a Promotional Poster that's appearing in places over in Japan features a screenshot of Gilgamesh executing his EX Burst attack.
The screenshot shows him wielding what hacked data from the Prologue release would suggest is the Excalibur. Gilgamesh is famed throughout the Final Fantasy series for stealing or using fake copies of famous swords in battle. In his Final Fantasy XII appearance he's seen wielding Cloud's Buster Sword, Squall's Gunblade and Tidus' Brotherhood Sword. In Final Fantasy VIII he can appear as a summon and either use the Excalibur, the Excalipur or the Masamune - the latter of which is Sephiroth's famed sword.
There's little else known about him for now, but you can see a screenshot of him in action below. We've also included images of the two promotional posters and a nice high-res copy of the full Japanese Box Art for the game, which was all posted by the same
Japanese Blog.
